The Rapture - What is supposed to happen? Is the Rapture fact based? Why would I believe something so extreme?

Person disapeared because they went up in the raptureWell, if you believe the Word of God to be factual(and you should), then the Rapture is absolutely fact based. To explain further, I think the first thing we need to cover in this topic is some scientific facts surrounding the stories in the Bible.

Fact 1:

No one has ever scientifically, or otherwise dis-proven the Word of God.

No matter how hard scientists and archeologists have tried to disprove the Word of God, the opposite has occurred. Everything discovered / found has not only proven the truth of the scriptures, but with exact, and incredible detail. Below are just a couple of examples that absolutely validates the Word of God.

1949 Dead Sea Scrolls Excavated by archaeologists and carbon dated between 167 BCE - 233 CE. These scrolls contained all the books of the Bible in Hebrew (except for Esther) with amazingly accurate word-for-word english translation to our current Bible.Just more proof that the Bible is truly a document of actual recorded events and not just made up / fictional stories. Additionally, this discovery made it crystal clear that divine intervention had to be involved in keeping the Bible (verse for verse) exactly the same for thousands of years across every country/territory.
1989 Holy Anointing Oil Discovered Excavated by archaeologists and carbon dated around 1AD, making it over 2200 years old. This oil (also called Shemen ha-mishchah) was still in tact and in liquid form. Vigorous examination through chemical testing later revealed it to be exactly what was used (as described) in the Bible to anoint Kings and is what was requested to be used to anoint the King (Jesus) upon His return. Even more amazing is that the one of the main ingredients (persimmon plant) is now extinct. Do you think there was a reason this was found and still in perfect condition? - Exodus 30:29-38.

Fact 2:

There are approximately 2,500 prophecies in the Bible...Many of them written centuries before their occurrence. Out of those 2,500 prophetic writings, 2,000 of them have not only come true, but have included every detail of the prophetic statement. We have seen them fulfilled even in our lifetime. More information is available on the truth of these prophecies here , however, here are just a couple to help illustrate the truth behind God's word and the signs He has asked us to watch for regarding the rapture, beginning of the tribulation, and ultimately His return;

1949-1950 Israel becoming a nation Independence of Israel - Ezekiel 11:16-17
1967-1968 Recapture of Jerusalem by Israel 6 - Day War - Ezekiel 34:27-30

Fact 3:

The signs written in the Word of God about the rapture and return of our Lord are everywhere we look in modern society. Then add to these signs the prophetic fulfillment of the upcoming Biblical Tetrad (Blood moons) this year and the big picture starts to become crystal clear.

What does the Bible say about the Rapture, the events surrounding it, and the return of the Lord? What is going to happen?

The Tribulation that is to come upon the world is in judgment upon the world, because “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”.
- John 3:19

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
- Acts - 2:17-21

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."
- Matthew - 24:7

"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."
- 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17

"Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, Ye know that summer is nigh:So likewise, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."
- Matthew- 24:32-35

"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible , and we shall be changed."
- 1 Corinthians- 15:52

To those who now belong to Jesus, God says, “There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
- Romans 8:1

“Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”
- Revelations. 3:10

“And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man”
- Matthew 17:26

From the above references I believe the Lord will bring us up with Him (Rapture) prior to the tribulation times. In fact, the last scripture reference above from Matthew talking about Noah really helps provide us some insight. In Noah's story, the Lord protected him and his whole family prior to the floods occurring...I don't believe this will be any different with the Tribulation.

Although there are many more scriptures to read and things to catch up on about the rapture, I think the above verses pretty much get the point across in regard to illustrating what is going to happen and probably happen very soon. I found this site to be a good source if you are interested in reading more.

What about timing? When will we be raptured?

Let's look at a couple of facts:

1. Many of the events described in detail in the Bible have already occurred and are continuing to occur. God states that the generation that sees these things occur will not pass until the Rapture occurs.

2. After this Tetrad cycle completes, there will not be another for almost 500 years.

Just timing alone tells us that we are very close to this occurring as this generation will not be alive 500 years from now...The signs and the timing tells us that we need to be looking for Him soon.

The final point I would like to make here is that, although we think something is going to happen soon based upon all the prophetic and physical evidence, the Lord makes it clear that no man will ever know the exact timing of this event or His return. The moral of this is that, while it's okay to believe it's coming sometime soon, we should never be misled to think it's happening on a certain date or time, etc.... Don't get caught up in this as the Lord warns about there being false prophets and prophetic statements...All we can do is pray for the peace of Jerusalem and ask for the Lord's guidance in getting His message across to others and carrying out His specific purpose for our lives. God has a completely unique plan for you and a reason that you're here...You're not God's imitation of others, but instead, you are His "innovation" and His masterpiece. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to ask for His purpose for our lives to be both revealed and fulfilled.
